It is the will to provide support to the more disadvantaged people, combined with the taste of a foreign agricultural experience, which prompted Daniel Lapointe to ask for a role of cooperating at the Centre for International cooperation and study (THIS). For eight months in Burkina Faso, Daniel busy to market shea butter to help Burkinan producers.
Importing and processing in the Eastern Townships
In 2002, in order to continue the support and collaboration with Leo’s community, Daniel and his wife Praxedes Lévesque Lapointe began importing, converting and distributing shea butter in Canada and the United States.
Over the years they have developed several body balms, lip balms and soaps based on shea butter. More than 15 years later, Burkinabé women remember the Lapointe family and this enduring bond allows us to always offer you the best shea butter.
Karité Delapointe officially became the first Canadian Fairtrade Certificate holder for shea butter by obtaining a licence from Fairtrade Canada on October 7, 2007.
Karité Delapointe was the only importer of Fairtrade-certified shea butter in Canada.
It supplies several companies with bulk and produces its own body care at the highest level of shea butter.
Of course our story is even bigger and more touching than what is summarized here.
